Re: Our top picks. (Help me pick the best headphones!)

Brainwavz HM5 pads fit on the DT250 - they have slightly larger cups that might make them more comfy, but also remember the headband under the padding is metal so you can flex it out to reduce their clamping pressure :) The DT250 are balanced all the way up to their high end dip, so I wouldn't recom...

Re: Headphones for Work & home

The AD900 are still a great headphone - if they're wearing out, a full set of spares should set you back less than $100. The current revision is the AD900X, but they're essentially the same headphone with cheaper build quality. The ADG1X is an AD900X with attached boom mic. If you're really keen you...

Re: Headphones for Work & home

The Audio-Technica ATH-ES770H is probably the closest to the ATH-ESW9 that we can still get our hands on - https://headphones.com.au/product/audio-technica-ath-es770h-on-ear-headphones/ The Koss ProDJ200 (not just for DJ use!) is another great option - https://headphones.com.au/product/koss-prodj200...

Re: What happened to Talisman?

No idea, unfortunately. One day they just stopped responding to emails and never reappeared :(

Shame, the T3H is still one of my favourite amps ever.

Re: Our top picks. (Help me pick the best headphones!)

I'd suggest something like the Beyer Custom One Pro or DT250, or perhaps the Audio Technica AD900X :)
Keep in mind your source will need to be up to scratch, I'd suggest getting a decent dedicated media player rather than adding a DAC/amp.

Re: Our top picks. (Help me pick the best headphones!)

ATs range around the same price have decent bass, but it's not quite like the G10. I wouldn't go bluetooth unless you absolutely hate cables and are happy to take a hit in value for money and reliability. eg: ~$300 BT IEMS are about as good as ~$150 wired models but they have a significantly higher ...

Re: Comfy use headphones for hours of use

Good subject! Ok - the DT250 is never what I'd call a "wow" headphone. The C1P and ESW9 are both "wow" headphones. What I mean is that the DT250 are indeed more neutral. They don't hype any particular frequency, in fact the DT250 has slight treble rolloff making them darker and softer sounding than ...

Re: Advice on wireless earphones $100-200

Both have sound quality that I'd be happy with, so it would come down to other aspects, in which case I'd go the E10BT - purely from a connectivity perspective :) They both have on-cable battery packs to increase battery life. Models that have batteries in the earpieces tend to have a much shorter b...

Re: Our top picks. (Help me pick the best headphones!)

Ok - the other option that might suit is the new ATH-LS70IS - they're a little richer sounding than the Resonate so you might find that preferable for the contemporary listening :)

Re: Help me upgrade from beyerdynamic DT235

Scratch the DT770pro if you like fast and unhyped bass, they're the opposite and are basically beats by Beyer, only they need an amp :) The DT250 are definitely going to be better than the HM5 and M40X if you're prepared to spend the extra, otherwise both the HM5 and M40X are great for the price. I ...

Re: Beyerdynamic T1 + Xonar STX upgrade?

Impedance isn't everything - many of Beyer's current lineup has high impedance (~250ohms) and high efficiency (>90dB) which would match fine with the STX. Also - impedance matching amp and headphones tends to be a waste of time in my experience. "An actual DAC" is pretty much what you're paying for ...

Re: Our top picks. (Help me pick the best headphones!)

Any open headphones are going to generally be better for games and movies but they won't block much, if any, outside noise. For games only I doubt you'll notice any improvement going from the AD900X to a higher end model, but for music you should. My recommendation would depend on the type of music ...

Re: Canalphones for Running and Gym $100 budget

The XF200 are a great choice for the price, as are the RockJaw Alfa Genus V2, but if you're happy spending the extra the LS50 are a great performer :)

Don't go bluetooth unless you don't have much choice - you pay more but get less in terms of performance and reliability.
