Re: Headphone cable repair, KSC-75

You may have damaged the lead-out wire (super-thin wire coming from the voice coil of the driver) while doing your re-solder job. With a lot of headphone drivers, the solder pad on the driver isn't just for connecting the headphone cable, but for connecting the headphone cable to the voice coil, bot...

Are they a headset with a mic? does the volume return to normal if you press the 'remote button'?

Then I can use the unopened pair that I stashed from the last batch we got :D

The unopened box of ESW9 is no doubt lost in your fort of unopened DT531s :ninja:

Re: Changes at Headphonic

Good news that the business will go on, but I will miss the headphonic egg chair, and random chats about snake oil marketing tactics.

I'll have to try and pop in before the shop is gone.

They don't have everything, but there's a decent selection of old and new.

I've bought a handful of titles from them, but they're so expensive.

Re: Accurate is boring.. Something fun?

Ended up getting the KEFs on a whim while in a store prior to Xmas. They're almost the opposite of the Audio Technica's - strong bass, slightly dulled treble, much much less 'open' (although still technically an open headphone I think). Thanks

Not speaking for either of these products specifically, but I've found once you get to a certain level of DAC, it's almost certainly your source material letting you down, not your DAC.

I'm trying to imagine what would've happened if Mrs Blobby had asked for in-ears as a Christmas present.

Nice to hear blobby, sounds like you need to buy yourself a pair of DT250s.

some contact lube or deoxit could probably keep it going for another couple of years unless its completely cactus
i find deoxit is great for resurrecting dirty pots

Re: Our top picks. (Help me pick the best headphones!)

Typically laptop headphone outputs are just awful, but mbp headphone jack is pretty good tbh. It's a 2V output, should be enough for the DT250-80.
