Re: Matrix DAC and Mini Portable now in stock

Hi I am considering buying the Matrix Mini Portable for use at work primarily but then to use portably at home when needed. 2 questions: 1. Is it plug and play for Windows. It's just that I would not be able to install any drivers on my work PC if required. 2. How well would it match with Alessandro...

Re: Squeezebox touch/ hard drive music options

Hi Ludwig I use Squeezeboxes in bedroom and family room. If I was starting out now though I would just get an iPad and have all the additional features as well. Adding a Camera Connection Kit gives usb audio output to USB DAC (powered)> amp. Has benefit of portability and use of line out. iPad app i...

Re: Desktop Setup

Hi Rodney 1. Line level is controlled by your PC volume and whatever media player you are using. Check media player volume at maximum. 2. Quality is lacking because you have good quality sound files they are more than likely being processed by an inferior quality built-in soundcard on your PC. 3. If...

Re: USB DAC For Audio Technica ATH AD900s

I have the EF2A and the AD900's ( I use a DacMagic with them) so can give you a relevant opinion The HIFIMAN EF2 DAC will eventually be the bottleneck when you get the W1000X. It's a good cheap amp dac that works of up to a point ( I only use it as an office amp/dac) - way short of what you'd use fo...

Re: MS1 414 pads V 1/4 mod?

For the comfies cut another hole about the same size as the existing hole. Put them back on reversed so the nice neat hole is at the front.
Cuts down the warmth.
The Sennheiser pads don't get as warm - looks larger cell foam to me.

Re: Comfortable Open headphones for office

Just keep in mind though that if you're in a quiet office environment, people near you may be able to hear your music especially if you turn up the vol Yes... should add I don't share an office. If I was in a shared office space next to someone like me with MS1's on and what I listen to (Shpongle a...

Re: Comfortable Open headphones for office

Don't think the MS-1 will be for me, from what I've read comfort is an issue and they can be harsh.. apparently. btw - would consider paying more for the right unit. I had the KSC75's then went up to the MS1's. I wear them all day at work- still hear everything I need to- they don't get warm like a...

Re: Shure SRH440 VS Sennheiser HD518

I have been reading some reviews and heard that the Shure SRH440 is a bit uncomfortable. What do you guys think of the comfort levels of the Shure SRH440? Comfort with stock pads is OK IMO - I can remember watching full movies with them easily enough, they don't last that long though. I ditched the...

SRH440's... should be OK. I have them straight off a laptop for movies...... no problems.
But.... if I didn't need the isolation from house noises I would use my MS1's.

Re: Is this best option for price?

I get a little bit of channel imbalance on mine but this is only at very very low volume. Nothing at usual listening levels.
