Power Cables

Postby innie721 » Mon Aug 10, 2015 8:34 pm

Hello all,

I'm wondering what your opinion on "audiophile" power cables is? Are they snake oil?

I have some old Audioengine 5's and I'm looking to get the best out of them. I've read some articles stating they make a huge, noticeable difference, then others stating they do absolutely nothing?

Any info would be appreciated :)

At 240V, 50Hz providing the power cable you have has enough cross sectional area to be able to pass the required current to the load in a well designed audio circuit there should be no perceivable difference.
The Audio Engine gear I own seems like its very well engineered to sound great strait from the box.
USB cables on the other hand for some reason from my own personal testing can make a massive difference to sound quality from some DAC's.
I can not tell you why or how but I have personally experienced the difference and it was repeatable so yeah blow some money on the USB cable.
