To celebrate, we have the following specials:

We also have the following items on their way, due soon:

Also, as I know some of you would love the DT880 or DT990, but don't have an amp to drive them:

DT880 or DT990 WITH Matrix M-Stage amp intro special $599.
(note: we are currently awaiting our next Matrix shipment so there WILL be a 2-3 week delay in M-Stage stock).
I called in yesterday to have a listen to the new famed Talisman - and they not in!! Bugger you and your fickle lair.

So I wasted some time and checked out the M-Stage. For the price, a very good buy. I've heard meh for more $$. Does the Concerto still pwn it? Yes, but they're not competing at the same price point. The Concerto is more transparent, clearer, and more refined, but it's also 3X the price.

The M-stage has got a good amount of grunt, and is a pretty warm amp, and those 880s need warming up. I gave it a run with my DT250 (80ohm), they ran them with ease and there was a nice bottom end sound. I also threw on my DT100 (400ohm) and while the M-stage needed cranking up a fair bit, they ran these pretty well too, with room left on the knob, and although I did have to crank up the gain switches, it wasn't being taxed to the max. Still a nice depth to the sound.

This is a good deal, and probably a good match up for the 880s.

Yep - when people ask "what's the minimum amp I'd recommend" for the DT770/880/990 the M-Stage pretty much fits the bill. Sure, you're not going to be hearing what they're capable of, but it's better than running them without one and it won't break the bank or drive you to "you may as well just get the MSPro" territory.

Ha! Terry gave me a burl with those Hifiman HE6 - even the Concerto can't get those bastards off the ground. In comparison, the 880 and 701 are power pussies and the M stage will feel like a king in their company.

Nice phones the HE6, presented plenty of everything very nicely - despite clearly not being run anywhere even near the postcode of what they're capable of.

So the m-stage is roughly in the O1 ballpark, amp-wise?

Yeah, I'd say so :) Maybe a bit better (it's been a while since I heard the O1 :p ).

Dammit, you hit me at my weakest.
I've been thinking of getting an open phone to compliment the DT250's

Right now, I'm looking at either the DT440's, or the 880's (after Meier releases their new amp). The AD900's also look like a decent compliment, but I have comfort issues with the AD series. The grill seems to press against my ears and I end up with red ears after a while

Guess I should keep my sights trained on the *gulp* next tier of amps then. Currently I think I'm aiming for the Grace because it's compact and awesome, but also because its $2k which should stop me buying it for quite a while :-)

how would the bass, mids and trebble be described for the DT440? i see for the DT 250 the trebble is noted as pulled back a bit, is this rule of thumb for Beyer?
Thanks :)

No not at all - the DT250 is probably the only model that has more subdued treble, the DT440 is a fair bit brighter.

Does the DT440 fit the hole the DT531 left behind?
