Broken right channel on RE0

Sadly it appears my RE0s are dying not long outside their warranty period (bought in late November 2010) The right piece seems to only want to make sound if I align the cable very carefully - the plastic bit that normally sits where the cable enters has long since been floating around the cord and I was a little too worried to glue it back. Is it very hard to open these up around the glue join? Any suggestions?

As they are quite a delicate device, trying to force them open with probably cause more trouble than not.
