Canalphones with mic recommendations?

Postby thomaco » Thu Feb 09, 2012 2:16 pm

Hi,

I'm looking for a pair of in-ear canalphones to use with a Galaxy S2 andriod phone while commuting. Thus I want a pair that have a mic and remote control feature. I would like good noise isolation, good sound, and something that is comfortable. And, I want something that isn't too expensive, say less than $150; under $100 would be wonderful.

I currently have a pair of Etymotic ER4S phones. They sound great and have excellent noise isolation, though they could be a little more comfortable. So, they give an idea of my expectation levels. I'm not expecting something quite as good, but still want something that's pretty good.

So, does anyone have any recommendations?

Thanks,
Richard

Remote+mic, isolation, comfort? Shure SE115+
Great range of comfortable fit options. There are better sounding canals under $100, but not with a mic included

+1 to Felix, have the 'iPhone' version of the SE115s and they are pretty decent imo.

Thanks for the suggestion. Is there a non iPhone version of this canalphone? In other Shure SE models with the removable cord they offer both a cord with a three button remote for iPhone and a cord with a one button remote for Android. I've been told that the iPhone version won't work with most Android phones. Is this the same for the SE115M+?

Is it worth considering a Shure SE215 with Android cord? Is there much of an improvement from the SE115M+ to SE215?

Ah yes you're right sorry. The SE115+ is an iPhone set so incompatible to the Androids
There's a sound quality improvement up to the SE215 but you'd probably be looking at between $60-80 for the android cable. At that point just go with the Etymotic range: MC2 or HF2 for androids

If you're used to Etys, go the hf2 :)

Thanks. I was going to ask about differences between HF2 and MC2. From the technology I'm assuming the HF2 would be significantly better.
