Even conventional HDDs have limited lifespans. Its just more apparent in SSDs when they first came out and burned out the number of writes after a year or two.

Limited life span as in... the memory block can't be written on too many times.

I know normal HDD have limited lifespans, but it sounds like for SSDs this is a bigger problem.

So it's just a problem of overwriting and rewriting memory units in the SSD or something like that?

Yes, like flash memory, solid state memory has limited life, SLC SSD has got longer life (faster too) and is used as those 'enterprise' drives, whereas the MLC ones are consumer oriented.

Limited writes isn't too bad now.

I bought myself a $200 speeding fine. Highway on ramp. Pretty dirty if you ask me. 3 points. 13kmph over the zoned section. 20m onwards it was 100kmph. I'm not contesting - too much hassle.

with speed changes eg. 100 - 80 (slowing down) there are buffer sections wth a sign "80 Ahead", why would there not be a buffer like that going the other way 80 - 100 (speeding up - considering that a certain speed needs to be maintained to enter a flow of traffic travelling at the 100 speed) sign posted or not, could this be contested?
Maybe there should be signs "100 ahead".

I jut think they were low on their quota. Yes I was speeding but I think sitting on a on ramp is like camping the bottom of a big hill.

Thinking about getting a small notebook for travel, what do people think of these?:

Good reviews and seem decent for the price. I assume music would sound ok via USB with my 2move?

Cheers,

I use an X61T (C2D 1.8ghz, 8gb ram, ssd, 1400*1050 12.1" AFFS panel). I use the wacom-style input on a regular basis.

It has essentially obsoleted every other laptop on the market for me (including upgrades of the model since the screens aren't 4:3 and are usually lower resolution now).

Personally, my experience with HP laptops is that they're prone to failure in a year or two, moreso than other brands but YMMV.

I've been using my X61T for about 3 years now?

Hmmm gotta be careful with JB (as there is usually a decent mark up on what they sell), and HP is okay, sometimes very well designed and sometimes terrible. My last HP comp was decently fast but it produced more heat than the cooling could deal with in summer.

Depends what your budget is and what you are after and whether it has to be 11 inches. Affordable laptops is okay (Even if its just to cross reference prices), however there is better value on the larger laptops 15inch and up.
