The good news though, for those of you who haven't seen him before the accident, is he is actually better looking in those pics.

I have told various family members that I want a 'DNR' sign above my bed if I ever have an accident like that - they have promised me that it wont be a problem. You really cant beat the love of family, can you ?

Thats not a bad plan, dingo, but they didnt leave much room either side of the swastika I seem to have picked up after my last night of drunken shenanigans. Who knew that the members of a gardening club had such wicked senses of humour, eh ? Those rascals really go off after a couple of sherries.

The worst injuries are actually invisible - if I had current Xrays of my foot and wrist you'd understand
There is excess bone growth occurring in my wrist that is acting to fuse the two forearm bones together which means I can't rotate my hand properly, it also causes a pretty much constant background ache and if I move it the wrong way, or too quickly, it's very painful.
In my foot there is missing bone between my talus and heel, plus the psychological effect of the doctor telling me that there's a 96% chance my talus will die means that each and every pain I feel from it worries me a fair bit as I imagine it's the bone dying and crumbling There's also still two pins left in there, which you can feel under the skin and can be painful if bumped or leaned on.

Hopefully there are some better options for your foot.

I'm gonna have nightmares from those pics...cant imagine what it is like having those injuries.

More surgery today, two less bits of metal in me now (k-wires from my foot).

Fortunately it was all over relatively quickly, gassed to sleep, local in the foot, woke up not long later, had the usual round of obs, then asked to go home so I didn't have to lie there in a hospital bed for 3 hours with nothing to do.
Home now, soon to retire to the couch/bed.

No idea when my next surgery (to fix fused wrist) will be.
