EDIT: the real question is, wtf is he doing running audio gear off batteries in the first place?

I dont know much about electronics, but I do recall being told not to keep a 'spare' battery in the boot of my car because of lead acid and potential explosions - just not sure how happy I would be having one in the living room, particularly in the middle of a rats nest of wiring like our friend has in the photo. In his defence, the battery in question appears to be well insulated, but not to the same degree as a computer UPS - I'll leave it to the more technical to comment on whether I'm just being a killjoy.

For the amount of effort and cost of a battery system, you could just use a better mains power supply for a better result.
That sounds too much like common sense. (the audiophool mob are sharpening their pitchforks about now)
