I just so happen to have this very combo.

I don't think it's too shabby.

Add a good pair of phones and you've got some very nice sound for ~$1k.

I imagine this would be a great setup to go with my ms pros which are currently just being plugged into my computers on board. Drubbing you have the grado rs2 don't you? Are you happy with the improvement this amp/dac gives them? I just don't think I could justify spending any more on an amp for phones which are regarded as easy to drive. With that said, are you planning on keeping this deal available for a while? I would need to save the money first.

I'll try to keep this deal up as long as we can, ongoing if possible :)

It'd be an awesome setup for you, Shackas.

good phones need good source, onboard sound is not it. The dac accounts for more of this combo than the amp.

Well I already had an amp before I got the Matrix, so my 'improvement' has been a different one. There was a midrange 'hole' in my previous amp. The Matrix filled it.

But you're right, you don't need the most awsomest amp for the Pros. So the Matrix is decent kit at a good price.

Can't remember the last time I plugged the RS2 into onboard, but I've been very happy with the DACmagic and what it did for all my phones. There was a noticeable difference over onboard. As dingo says, good phones need a decent source. With the DACmagic, you need an amp.

Here is my gush from a couple of years ago.

Riverback - send an email through I'll sort you out.

Just for info guys, since posting this we're pretty low on DACMagics, I expect we'll run out by the end of the weekend with more stock arriving later next week.

Trial applies, but freight costs are going to hurt a bit if you get exchanging ;)

If you're coming off a basic source, after 20 days with a DACmagic, you'll probably not send it back...
