Need a PMP

Postby VirtualMe » Fri Jun 08, 2012 5:28 pm

On the hunt for a Cowon J3, 2 purchases in the last 2 days and both times my $ has been refunded due to no stock :crybaby: Whilst there is still one on ebay i am yet to try i thought i would hear what people have to say here on what is the latest and greatest. What im looking for is basically what the J3 has to offer & if there are added things like android, wifi then thats cool but they aint a must have.

-Great audio - ES7 or WS70 phones - not sure yet...fiio if need be
-Video playback
-32GB+SD or 60GB HDD atleast
-No itunes
-Good battery life

Im keen on a Cowon of some sort, just not sure which one exactly. In saying that tho, im open to anything that does what i want it to do.

What to do

They only have the X7 & S9,both of which i have considered. The S9 not having a SD slot is no good but the X7 has a few things going for it. As far as Cowon products go,i have narrowed it down to either the D2+,D3 or Z2 (J3 pref if i can find one).

It was only a couple of weeks ago that i had even heard of these products & since then i have done nothing but read & watch reviews on PMP's,DAC's & Headphones lol. so im all ears

Yeah, gets like that.

Not many people have heard of Cowon. The D2+, for example, is chock full of features but is reasonably ugly and has a terrible UI compared to the popular players (you get used to it). DAB, awesome EQ, SD card slot, cheap, great headphone amp and DAC, plays all file types, can't really complain. I don't watch videos though, and it wouldn't be good for that either.

That's interesting - had a look around for the J3 on the Web but could not find it in any of the usual places in Australia (I got mine a while ago from MiniDisc).

If you want storage and long battery life, grab the X7. Otherwise, the Z2 gets some really good reviews (even for the UI !)

My portable is a Psvita with a 32gb memory card XD. The headphone out is sometimes a bit noisy though :/ sometimes isn't. Weirdness.
