Second please excuse typos etc as it takes me quite some time to type and 'm doing it mostly one handed (with the broken-finger hand raather than the broken wrist one).
I was discharged from hospital yesterday.
Summary of injuries:
Compound fracture to left ring finger, with bruises and grazes around the arm, mostly near my elbow. Finger is now pinned and arm is in removable splint.
Spiral fracture to right wrist, which also penetrated skin. (most likely from control column). Wrist now has metal plate bolted to bones, forearm is cast (my most painful injury IMO).
I-can't-remember=the-name-of-it general messing up of my right heel (pedals) that rotated some bone that shouldn't be rotated. Also a large laceration from back of ankle up my calf. Cast from toe up to just under knee.
Minor lumbar fracture - not serious, but uncomfortable and have to wear sexy corset when moving around, which isn't much at this stage.
Facial lacerations/broken nose etc, lost a front tooth, now have bitchin scars that reach from above eyebrow down to chin - even more super villain.
Various other bruises/cuts/grazes all over the place.
What happened - low alt (~100ft) engine failure during turn. I won't go into detail for now.
Instructor is fine, and the reason we are both alive. She is fantastic. Broken legs, finger and facial injuries inluding eye injuries - I don't know what her eye prognosis is at this stage but seems optimistic.
Ok that took a lot of effort to type out so I'll leave it there. I should regain strength enough over the coming weeks to say more

Welcome back Mr Marcus.
