I live in inner suburbs of Melbs, and I see quite a lot of people wearing Senns. I've also spotted a Grados, AKG 501s and DT770pros (as a portable, hah!) on my tram.

But the majority of people wearing the white things that come with ipods and then maybe Senn 201s or the really plastic-y Sonys.

I love spotting 'phones on transport. Most often they're Senns

The other day I was next to a guy on the train who had HD555s. He asked if I was bothered by his music (I was reading) which I didn't mind, nice of him to ask. But I gave up on reading nonetheless and felt pretty smug whipping out the ol' ESW9s :cool:

I saw some B&W headphones at the traino.

They look.... odd. :paranoid:

I think they look pretty nice, but I don't think anyone has used the term "value" when describing the sound vs price

In perth, only the HD600 are considered portable. :D fairly sure said commuter wasn't using an amp but i could say for certain.

SOmeone on the bus i used to catch would wear some full sized open ATs, i think they were AD400s, i would lol every time. ok maybe not lol, but cqtm (chuckle quietly to myself)

I sometimes see people suing ATH's.
Wonder if any peoeple ever spooted me with my custom made LOL

There's a little group of people in Melb who appreciate quality headphones. I think I should be counted as one, and I am organizing the 2011 1st Melb head fi meet. We had 2 "major" meet and few mini meets.
But yes i do agree it seems not that easy to find much Melbournians into head-fi stuff......

If you can buy a product in aus, they can probably get it cheaper.

The reason they all buy ES7s and ESW9s and other mid-high end headphones/iems is because the Headfi market is so much bigger in China, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia than in Australia. Good sound is good sound. It doesn't take a Doctor of Engineering who speaks english natively to appreciate the difference. :D
just my 2 cents worth.
Portable Rig: iPod Classic 160gb -> idock -> Mundorf Gold/Silver diyIC -> Ordnance .22 amplifier -> UE Triple.fi 10
