Recommended Paypal methods?

Postby ihasmario » Tue Nov 30, 2010 2:16 am

Yo.

Setting up a paypal account for the holiday season. I'm wondering if people here have a recommendation for debit/credit card vs bank account funding?

My bank card is a debit card (a mastercard, specifically).

Bank seems easier, but I wonder if it's less safe?

Cool.

Hmm it is less safe but umm if you're mostly buying stuff from reputable people, there isn't a problem having it linked with your a/c. As you know, paypal can just take money out of your a/c during a dispute. If you have it linked to a credit card, your bank can (grumpily) reverse the payment.

Roll a dice. You're going to get boned one day.

I've had no safety issues with PP. Be warned though, the banks have stopped instantly clearing acct transfers (because they can't get to use your money in the 'processing' time lag). So if you want immediate processing, you need to nominate you CC.

I just added a credit card as a second source so my payments are instant.

Just make sure you have a nice long, complicated password for paypal and you never click any emails from "paypal" even if they are legit - visit the homepage directly. Make sure you have a virus scanner and something like spybot/ad-aware that you use now and then.
With just these basic security methods, security won't really be an issue.

I got one of them PayPal security cards. So even if they have my password you still need the code that my card generates.

I had one of those for my bank account.
Then I lost it.
Now I can't transfer money over the internet to anyone new.
Thankfully I already have headphonic on the "list". :p
