Heat does not like Headphones =(

Postby Riverback » Thu Dec 09, 2010 12:30 pm

Its summer, and everyone knows that makes it hard to listen to headphones.
I'm thinking of postphoning the DT250's (again >.>) and opt for a decent speaker setup

Right now, I'm looking at the Audioengine A2's and I'm wondering if there are any better ones out there for the price.
Any ideas to where I can probe around? :)

Budget?
Are they going to be nearfield with PC or further away?

Only $150 extra to go for the A5's.

The budget's around $200-$300
and yes, they will be set next to the PC
I looked into the A5's but I think they'll be a bit too big to be on the desk next to the laptop.

I hate how my inability to upgrade is due to the lack of space around the house :crybaby:

I'm with you. I don't listen anywhere near as much because it's so GOD DAMN HUMID. I do have A/C but don't use it much.
Need more DACies!

I only listen at night during winter as well because it's quieter and cooler. Some kind of audiophile voodoo goes on.

I don't think speakers and I are too compatible because of this, but we'll see where it goes. I think I'm done for headphones anyway, unless something comes along which knocks the crap out of my current setup.

Riverback is continuing my question for me. :)

But yes, need more answers!

Also, what is the difference between the A5 and the A5+? And would this: *SUBWOOFER LINK* The Audioengine S8 subwoofer work with the 5/5+ speakers?

Yeah, the subwoofer works with them.

The old A5 used to have overheating problems, so hopefully they fixed it by adding in a bigger heatsink in the A5+ other than that you get a remote with the A5+.
Get rid of the link, Marcus doesn't like it when you link to other sites.

Yep, that remote's gonna be handy in a lot of times.

There's probably better speakers out there, but Audioengines are a safe bet without having to go out to Hi-Fi shops and having a listen

I agree headphones can be a bit hot for summer.
Enjoying my speakers too, headphones are great for night time though.
