Alternative too Foobar

Postby rra117 » Sat Feb 04, 2012 12:20 pm

Foobar is great! However does anyone know an alternative that has a bit more cosmetics? Not itunes... but something with a nice mini player and looks nicer, yet still have the same same power as foobar.
thanks in advance!

P.S by mini player i mean the feature like in itunes where you put your cursor on the tab and there's a pause/play button and previous/next track button. Also when im in a different application and i press next track on my keyboard it doesnt work on Foobar but it does on itunes.
You will be eating bread when you see me play. When i finish, you will be eating toast.

Yeah, I'm also looking for an alternative to Foobar that looks nicer and that they will pay me to use and that will protect my computer from viruses and that will cure cancer and make me breakfast. I am also a man already.

Options are basically;
Clementine - http://www.clementine-player.org/
Skinning foobar

If you're looking for a more "graphic" design, the plugins graphical browser and esplaylist (or was it EL?) are probably up your alley.
http://hanulbi.deviantart.com/art/foomini-205098825 - Here's a graphical browser skin
http://deskmodder.deviantart.com/art/mi ... -159494812 - Here's an EL playlist skin (Lmao at the entry level hipster tastes. Fisherman's woman, really?)
http://foo2k.chottu.net/#esp - here's the ESplaylist plugin
http://wiki.hydrogenaudio.org/index.php ... elplaylist) - here's EL playlist, usually used with WSH panel mod

Here's what the album tree view looks like for graphic browser (my current foobar).

Disable the functions that launch things like itunes/wmp etc for the buttons and map them in foobar as global hotkeys in your preferences menu.
stuff (rarely) -> my head (sometimes) -> music (always)

Foobar is nice and fun for tinkerers, but J.River media jukebox is more than powerful enough and easy to use for the average listener right out of the box.

The paid version has more features, but honestly an average person doesn't really need it.

Right click bottom left display tab where the cover art usually is, 2D or 3D visualisations, you can detach it and put it anywhere you want, or double click for full view. You can also make or upload your own.

They're all pretty terrible though.

If that's what you meant by visualiser.
