Beyer T70 : Beyer getting it right.

Not added to the web catalogue yet, but I have a T70 test unit that I've just unpacked and put on my head.

Sounds like a DT770, with better bass control, better mids and less harsh treble, plus they're a little easier to drive. Running them straight from my Sansa they actually sound.... really good! Better from a better source with an amp of course (much better bass control, separation across the board, improved dynamic range (the big one for me) etc).

Price is $530 including delivery.

Beats by Beyer - awesome build quality, awesome comfort and awesome bass response without killing all the other frequencies.

Nice! Very tempting... :)

Do you prefer them to the DT250?

We all know that bass isn't awesome unless it kills the other frequencies! ;)

Hmm... prefer them to the DT250? I dunno - give me 10 years with the T70 and I'll let you know ;)
I'm much more familiar with the DT250, these still have the honeymoon "ooh new headphone that doesn't sound bad!" excitement attached, the earpads and headband material (feels like fake suede) is rooly noice too.

How are they compared to 880's? If they have similar clarity with a bit more bottom end you can sign me up for one right now.

Hi Marcus,

I am very close to taking the plunge and ordering your DT 770 "Premium"(250ohm) but have been hearing mixed things regarding their replacements the T70, was wondering if you or could answer a few quick questions for me to help me with my decision.

Would you say they are an improved version of the 770 or a whole other set of cans all together?
should I wait for these or snap up the DT 770 before they are all gone (because they are EOL)?
Are there any other Cans you would say has a similar sound to the 770's and T70's for around the same price?
When will they be available?

Don't know if it helps but I'm currently running some audiotehcnica M50's, ATH-AD700 (My roommate also has the beyer DT250's and the ATH-AD900)off a Asus Essence One headphone amp, and prefer closed cans with a balanced sound leaning towards bass with a good sound-stage and use my cans mainly for music (FLAC when I can find it) and gaming.

Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't call DT770 "balanced sound leaning toward bass", they're a lot more boom-tish than balanced.
From marcus' description (above), the T70 sound a lot more suitable

Different altogether.

Beyer are only discontinuing the DT770, not the 770pro - you'll still be able to get the pro, which is basically the same headphone and much cheaper.

We'll have T70 stock soon I believe, I'll have to get back to you with a firm eta.

The DT250 is a far more balanced sounding headphone than the 770. I actually consider the DT770 a step down.
The T70 is also more balanced than the 770, so again if you're after balance the T70 is going to be a better option.

What about the Beyer T70P - looks like it will be the same price as the T70 even though it's supposed to be a portable ?

Also, have you heard the T70P and how does it compare to the T70 ?

As far as I can tell the only difference is the driver impedance and cord length?

We haven't received T70p stock yet, but I've run the T70 off my Sansa clip with enjoyable results :)

Interesting set of headphones! I'm wondering about comfort though; they look comfy, but i'm so used to my ad700's... Tempting upgrade!
