YES, we sell Media Players! Announcing the HiSound

Postby Felix » Fri Mar 23, 2012 4:06 pm

You may notice we have a new category on the website: Media Player

I'm pretty excited to announce the HiSound music players are now available from Headphonic

These guys sound great. Like really good. Like making me want one over my Cowon D2+ type good
4GB internal storage + a micro-SD expansion slot on each, and the Studio features an in-built amplifier which is quite sweet. Trying it from such slightly-more-demanding headphones as the DT1350 and it does very well. They feel great and are really intuitive to use. The only thing I don't immediately love is the storage capacity, but oh well :p

Very nice! :)
Never heard of them, though.

With the 'in-built amplifier' on the Studio, don't all players have an in-built headphone amplifier?

Headphone stage op-amp vs amplified. Same reason a built-in-amp soundcard is fallacious but still advertised. It makes a difference!

How's the microsd integration? Does it appear as a separate library?

Description needs a little more work: dimensions, weight, do they come with default headphones?, etc.

They're funky looking players if I'd say so :)

Tempted by the Rocoo-P. I wonder how it compares to the Hifiman HM-601.

Unsure as to whether it combines internal and external memory for library - I have a few 32gig microSD cards that I swap between devices, so I rarely use internal memory.

I'll see if I can work it out next time I have a fiddle with one :)

What's the UI like? The screen/controls looks something like the Clip+. Is it anything like that?

Similar to the clip, minus the handy home button.

In terms of features and interface, they aren't features of this player ;)
What you get is a really nice looking, really nice feeling, really nice SOUNDING mp3 player for a good price.

I've been using the RoCoo and Studio the past few weeks (haven't tried the RoCoo-P yet) and despite niggling issues with the basic UI they're great (I've since claimed a Studio for myself to replace my Clip :) ).

http://www.hisoundaudio.com/products/players/studio-v/

I read through the product page. If its what they claim it is I can't say I'm not a little impressed :)
Its the same size as a Cowon D2, but its more focused on the audio part rather than the multimedia.

Line In, 80 hours stated battery, and a Class A amp stage. Its like one of those portable setups but this one's easier to get through airport security
Does it get tend to get warm though?

Close..... but no cigar. http://headphones.com.au/pbrowse?catID=3&subCatID=55 works for me.

I was hoping to get over this afternoon for a look see, but was another busy Friday. Hopefully early next week I can find some time.

They do look very good for their target market... I was just hoping it was SDXC (rather than micro) so I could put this in it: http://www.lexar.com/products/lexar-pro ... -sdxc-card
Why is it so hard to get a good media player with more than 64GB in it? :(

Matt.

The Rocoo-P has been an FOTM at Head-Fi for a few months now. The usual caveats about HF 'reviews' apply, but the piccies are nice:
