Tone Tone

Hi All,

This is my first post here. I am looking for a set of heapdhones with really good tone\color not to fussed about bass but the bass shouldn't be discounted. I tend to listen to Jazz and Classical music with Rock. It will only be used for listening to music and from MP3 player and a PC.

I am looking at around $200 mark I could maybe stretch to $300 but prefer not too.

For Open headphones (if you don't need to block out outside noise), then maybe the Alessandro MS-1 or AKG K540.
For Closed headphones (if you don't want to disturb people say in a quiet office environment or on public transport), then maybe the Koss TBSE1 or Shure SRH840 (but these are a little large and have a 3m coiled cable so may not be completely suitable if you need to take them out-and-about a lot)

But for something more portable (i.e. smaller, lighter and with a shorter cable), then the Audio Technica ES7 are a good choice.

Although I wouldn't get them if you're using onboard sound
