I was trying the Studio with some AKG sets, the K540 iirc. It sounds goood through that amp stage. I'm really digging the new AKGs on our catalogue and it was quite a nice match to accentuate what was already a rather lush sound
Marcus has spent more time with the Studio than I have so I'll need to pinch that from him when possible

Why does headphonic have to always stock stuff that I want?

*POP* First post

I'm looking at getting some phones with the arrival of more babies into the house and thought I might just get a pmp at the same time to give myself more options to escape

I'm just a noob at this stuff...is something like a sansa Clip + perfectly adequate for driving phones in the 32-44ohm impedence I'm considering or is there a worthwhile benefit to going to something like the rocoo P?

When will the Rocoo P be back in stock?

Cheers,
Pieface.

Well, the impedence is only part of the equation. How sensitive the phones are also plays a big part. Not all 32 ohm phones are made the same. What phones are we talking about here, pieface? I have a sansa clip and sansa fuze, and I know they struggle with my grado sr125's - have to push the volume. Also, more power from the source/amp gives better dynamics and headroom. You will also chew through the battery life of your portable player if the phones demand more.

Thanks Big Dave...

Mods let me know the right place to make a thread if I am dragging this OT.

Would still like to know a restock date for rocoo P though :p

I'm mostly a Classic Rock, Blues based listener so was considering the following phones under/around $200...
MS1
AKG520 and 540
ATH AD700
Shure SRH840
Koss TBSE1

My current phones are Sony MDRXD100 so I am coming in from a fairly basic level as far as headphones go but they have whet my appetite to try something a bit better. I want something that is going to drive well off a pmp and my CD player at home. Bass doesn't have to be anything special but a lot tighter than what I'm currently getting. My main one is that I don't seem to like forward/aggressive treble, that seems to fatigue my ears real quick. Isolation isn't a major concern if I get the right PMP.

If you don't need isolation, then maybe the K540 might be the best option.
The AD700 are also great headphones but don't quite have that bass punch I think for Blues/Classic Rock music (as much as the K540 or even the MS-1)
