I'd be interested in knowing how Marcus, Felix and anyone else find it compares to the T1, which I heard at a headphone meet a couple of years ago and thought that it sounded a bit bright and somewhat metallic at the time.

The T1 is a bit more balanced than the W300ANV but less aggressive in the mids IMHO. After a full year with the HE6 I tend to now prefer a more balanced setup over an overly colored headphone at the top end.

^ I can understand that. Both the W5000 and W3000ANV couldn't be described as neutral. I might end up moving in that direction eventually but then again I love the wow factor of Grado's. :)

I've heard this great headphone for a few times, the sound is very lively, with the sound signature of wooden ath, sweet and smooth vocal, w3000anv is slightly more neutral than w5000. Great sound stage, not very big, but very solid and firm location. Brilliant finishing, very beautiful wood, IT IS AN ART PIECE!
My friend, an ath-fans, bought four......and not going to sell any of them...

The W3000ANV has a richer presentation than the W5000. I really couldn't describe one as sounding any more neutral than the other. They're both coloured phones with forward mids.

hehe Matt I am very real and yes I am a Marcus, I honestly didn't know you guys had a headphonics Marcus haha ... I am Irish though so that is a bonus :)

Yes our sponsors gave us the headphone so I do have to temper slightly what I said in the review (locals have very sensitive hearts here) when I conclude so not to offend but I did honestly enjoy them and even if you do spend 1500 on them I think you will get your money back in years to come. If they were a $1k I would have bought them in a heart beat because I do enjoy oddball mid-centric cans and they worked so well with my hard rock collection.

Beware the metallic impression, matching with ATH is paramount out of experience with the W5000 and I hated it with my Lyr but loved it with the Burson HA-160 and a tube pre-amp buffer in my DAC. After a while they did calm down a lot and the initial shock I got over after say 50 hours or so.

I am not a fan of 3d wing systems either :)

I bought a T1 instead also...maybe next time for the ATH :)

How would you compare the W3000 to the W1000X? I've had a pair of W5000 for several years and rarely use them. When I purchased my W1000X your review helped tip me in that direction and I have to say that the more I use them the more I like them. They now get far more use the the previous favourites, RS1 and AD2000.
If the W3000 is a better version of the W1000X then I could be seriously tempted but if its more like the W5000 then no go.

As one of the best looking headphones on the planet (if not the best), they may look out of place in my mess of a room.

I'll try to be more mindful of mobile phone and tablet users before complimenting someone's photography in future.

Sorry for using necrorise.

Is the W3000ANV available with the godly cups? Or were they only for the Emperor's pair.
