OK! My girlfriend has a Rocoo-P so I've done some testing comparing to my Asus STX, with AD900s. Just to give you all an idea since this is a setup I'm so very familiar with

The Rocoo is very forward sounding and warmer than the STX. Quite a strong presence, and damn it has a lot of power. Sound separation and micro-detail is excellent, I even find some sounds are quite a lot more distinct through it over my STX. What is lacking in comparison is soundstage which is far more emphasised on the soundcard. So it sacrifices on some technical aspects of sound but overall this is a very fun sounding player. I'm finding that difference is similar to the Rocoo VS Cowon D2+, where the D2 is more balanced and thin sounding but not as strong/warm (and slightly less detailed)

Felix...how do you find most budget-midrange portables/IEM's on soundstage anyway?

Is the lack of soundstage a bit of a non event for a portable unles you are spending big $$ on your 'phones anyway?

In my experience they tend to do quite well, though the most important part is overall separation. Soundstage is far more pronounced on a good soundcard but I don't consider it hugely important for most music. The more forward sounding Rocoo does the above song very well because it adds prominence to micro-detail and the bass, and the D2+ does well because it generally has a more ambient sort of soundstage. Lush vs thin, they have their benefits

Edit: Look at me posting on the forums and listening to music / gear in between breaks writing my uni work  workwork

OK Cool. Hopefully the store will not get sold out straight away when you restock and I can have a listen to the RocooP at some point soon.

I am an impatient bugger so I have Clip + enroute to me but I'm a little intrigued by these Hisound players.

Would the Studio also have a similar sound difference to the Cowon as the Rocoo does ? And is that with the EQ setting for Dynamic or Armature (I think that's what it's called) ?

EQ is straight out of the box. AFAIK the Studio has the same DAC stage, only the far superior amp stage

Felix/Marcus

Is there a noticable improvement in sound quality in something like the hisound rocoo over a standard mp3 player using the VSonic R02 Pros? Especially since most of my music library is high bit rate mp3. I dont have much in lossless format.

I love the idea on purely focussing on playing music without fancy UIs, but im a little concerned about how simplistic the UI is, particularly if i want to quickly scroll to different songs etc

Not something I'm setup for, sorry. If you've used something like the Sansa Clip it's similar, but fairly simplified.

It depends on the quality of the "standard mp3 player" that you're coming from. If you want a really basic mp3 player that does the job, it might be worth considering the Sansa Clip/Fuse/whatever it is now.

When I say the interface is basic, I mean it works - it just won't do anything fancy :)
Skipping songs isn't a big deal.

Currently using a Meizu M6SL Miniplayer with my R02 Pros. Ive had my Meizu for around 4 or 5 years now and its been a great player for sound quality for me, however its buttons are starting to fail and its software is prtty buggy.
What i did like about the Meizu was its small size, easiness to use and and good sound. Im thinking that the Sansa Clip or Fuze may be a suitable replacement. Thanks

You'll notice a difference for sure. Maybe one of our newer staff members could weigh in with a comparison though, he owns the Vsonic :)

Is the Rocoo P a significant improvement in sound to the Clip with easy to drive headphones?

It would have to be a decent upgrade for me to give up the convenience of my iProducts, the Clip wasn't over my Shuffle.

Significant with easy to drive models? No, but there is an improvement overall. It's much more noticeable when you start to drive some more demanding models (DT250, K242HD that kind of thing).
