So i've moved to Foobar with the skin on the first page. Starting to be more functional.

Just got a Audioengine D1 DAC. Got the WASAPI plugin.

I find that i need to put the Buffer on minimum (50ms) to avoid crackling, popping and freezing. Anyone else experience this?

Anyone with tips with using FOOBAR with an USB DAC? Any general must do's for FOOBAR ? APart from that Skin.

Yeah, I get crackling, popping and freezing sometimes, but I just thought it was my computer lagging because it most often happened when the computer was doing something else at the same time e.g. downloading a file, refreshing a page, etc.

I'll try adjusting the buffer to see if that helps me. :)

Haha yeah. I think it will mate.

Lower buffer means your CPU will work a bit hard I "believe". I only tried lowering it because I read a guide from some 'expert' talking about usb devices requiring a much lower buffer to work properly. If i was using optical I could probably keep it at the default 1000 ms.

Someone may have already said this but just get some 'components' from the foobar website! I got a neat skin for it, some cool tweaks like the option to sync to iDevices and burn cds, and also some EQ presets...go check it out!

Okay
I haven't been getting the skipping and freezing very much recently, but it's good to know why it's happening and how to stop it. I tried lowering the buffer, and so far so good.

Win. Mine froze with default buffer of 1000ms.

With 700ms it popped and crackeld a lot.

With 400ms it did the same and occasional freeze.

With 50ms its perfect.

So whoever is using this DarkOne skin, can you help me with this...

With the main view, where it groups the album. You click the album and it expands and the songs in the album show up.

1. Can it be configured so this main view only displays the Artist name, then you click to bring up the albums, the click again to bring up the songs? I.e. Group the artists together, then next layer is albums etc.

2. Can a scroll bar be added to this main section, so I don't have to get RSI using the scroll wheel on my mouse?

Liking it, just needs some tweaks I'm not capable of figuring out :(

EDIT: And for that matter, when im viewin the songs in an Album, i see track no, track name, rating and track time. How do I add/delete these? Would like bitrate and encoding there too...

1) I use the 2nd display setting on the main window which shows everything as a list. (Its on the top right, the 2nd icon from the right of the shuffle/repeat icon)

For the song problem, I think its bad tag info. Might have to redo your ID3 tags

If you're looking for a more "graphic" design, the plugins graphical browser and esplaylist (or was it EL?) are probably up your alley.
http://hanulbi.deviantart.com/art/foomini-205098825 - Here's a graphical browser skin

http://foo2k.chottu.net/#esp - here's the ESplaylist plugin
http://wiki.hydrogenaudio.org/index.php ... elplaylist) - here's EL playlist, usually used with WSH panel mod

Here's what the album tree view looks like for graphic browser (my current foobar).

Disable the functions that launch things like itunes/wmp etc for the buttons and map them in foobar as global hotkeys in your preferences menu.

So I've been playing around with foobar for awhile, but how do you get ESplaylist to display like that?

That's an older plugin called Graphical browser. Just load a skin that uses it (eg Foomini) and remove everything except it.

As soon as you double click the file itll install some shit, then pop up its manual.

Uninstall Foobar completely, removing all the files (two check boxes). Reinstall. When the popup asks what layout you want, choose whatever. Double click the DarkOne file, install everything, then next time you open Foobar a box should pop up asking if you want to use ColumnUI. Once you've selected that then you can follow the guide.

I had trouble selecting ColumnUI for some reason, had to follow steps above.

Hmm, still don't really know how to configure that into the multiple album view. Is there something in preferences that I'm missing?

Also honestly my ideal player would be what you have above with the multiple album view.
