Good cheap speakers for my Laptop

Postby rra117 » Thu Apr 19, 2012 8:40 am

I need a cheap 5.1 speaker system, if anyone knows please let me know. A 2.1 system with a good sub-woofer wouldn't be bad either.
P.S the cheaper the better!

Thanks!

you should just get an alienware laptop. they're fully sick with an internal subwoofer, best 2.1 ever!

Hard to find decent speakers with a $100 budget since good entry level 2.0 starts around $200-ish. You can try 2nd hand and see if you get anything decent
Better off sticking with the built in speakers or using headphones
Cowon J3 -> Vsonic R02ProII | B2 | T50P
DACMagic -> Matrix M-stage -> DT250 | AD900 | MS-1 | A2

I don't use my logitech speakers anymore, but they were notability better than computer monitor speakers, the stock computer/laptop speakers, and $10-20 speakers. My old Sennheiser 202hd sound quality was slightly better, and I haven't used the speakers since getting my ATH A900s which were leagues better. SQ on the Logitech speakers is very dependent on getting them aligned to where you are sitting as well.

That unit looks a bit newer than mine, I've noticed that some of the logitech woofers (which are sometimes the same size) but different designs can produce dramatically difference amounts of bass.

If you get open headphones, rather than closed headphones, you can hear whats going on around you pretty easily. Open doesn't really insulate, so you can hear the music and talk to people at the same time. Open generally sounds better too IF you have a good listening environment and don't have to worry about other people hearing what you are hearing. Closed offers more bass and insulation against outside noise.

How about these ? Ignore the price tag on the Creative website because you can get these for under $100

you could check out head-fi, it does have some reviews for this unit. The ranking on that list doesn't always reflect value/quality though.

Bah, Logitech...

Build quality is crap, volume pots go pretty quickly, noise floor is shocking on headphone ports, their 'subs' are just stupid.

Well I'll admit they're miles above built in monitor speakers and if you get a cheap set it's better than nothing... but I just don't see the love for their expensive offerings, give me bookshelf speakers any day.

Once you go over $200 there start being a lot of better alternatives to creative and logitech computer speakers. Their build quality isn't that bad anymore except for the sub <$50 speakers, don't use their headphone ports lol, and the quality of their included subs is highly variable.
