I have bought some HD414 comfy pads for them. I was going to try some G-Cush pads (the huge grado bowls) but I might just pass on that.

DT250 comfort is acceptable. Might loosen them a tad, pressure bit too high. Circumaural is win though, no ear pain at all. Even at full stretch I need to put them on and stretch the cups down, VERY BIG NOGGIN.

Yeah, they take time. When I first wore my DT250, the pressure hurt my ears after a while. Then I stuck them on a tissue box for a few days and they improved a bit. Also, after long term use they tend to loosen up a lot. Definitely a long term relationship headphone.

Har har. Literally, i have the cups extended fully, i put them on, then i PULL the cups down ( so it makes a much more oval shape with the headband) for it to fit...

Yeah mate. I've seen every single pad mod out there, don't worry.

That mod is silly. I think it has a huge impact on the sound, not to mention reasonably expensive to do/buy.

There is also the G-Cush pads and people tape around the outside perimeter in order to seal them a bit more so they don't lose too much bass.

Thinking about how I use my headphones, and how they'll be used for the next few years, I think closed is a wiser choice. I don't get much time to listen to the open ones lately anyway

I was considering the Beyer T70 but I think I read once or twice that they can be lacking in "bass quantity."

I listened to a T70 and a T70p yesterday for about 15m and they definitely didn't lack bass for me. I thought they had a great balance actually. Seriously thinking about replacing my AD900 with a T70p now. And that was after playing the T70p out of a Samsung tablet.

Hmm, does anyone know how the T70 compare with Ultimate Ears Triple.fi 10 IEMS in terms of soundstage, detail and sound signature (bass/mids/highs)? I'm getting the impression that they might sound a bit similar.

Certainly a more up tempto dynamic can than the DT250, no doubting that. Comfort still crapola.

Might be a bit too revealing though, hearing some background fuzz/static in a song I don't hear with the DT250. Wish my ears didn't pick up on this sort of stuff. Like the squeaky bass pedal in "Since I've Been Loving You" by Zepplin. Ruined that song!

If I do go the T70, would be nice if its a happy middle ground between th Pro and DT250. More dynamic than the later, bit more forgiving than the former.

EDIT: Just bent the headband out even further, the pads barely touch the ears now, so all weight is through the headband. Comfort is still average, but they don't hurt anymore. Great sound to them but still feels like they have more distinct strengths and weaknesses than the AD900 and DT250 did/do. Anyone agree with that?

I think regardless I should go a closed can for the near future. Then high end setup late next year or so. T70 or DT250 are the options at the moment, or a second hand W1000x.

You'll still hear that kind of detail on the DT250, it's just not as forward. The T70 if anything is even more revealing of treble detail.

No, not really They're more dynamic than the DT250 and a little more revealing than the MSPro

Certainly not switching too much. Went the DT250 for a few days straight, then the Pros for a few hours last night. No more A/Bing.

The Pro's just had a light hiss that the DT250 didnt, it could very well be my source and its compatibility with each phone, Pro's being a bit more sensitive. I think I describe it a bit wrong, revealing definately wasn't the right word, it was very late when I typed that.

Im like the Pro's more, but I think I need to settle on a closed can. Most of my listening time I need a closet set, so it seems pointless keeping some high end cans sitting there for only 10% use.

T70 more dynamic, more trebled detailed than the DT250 sounds about spot on. Soundstage improved too?

Yeah you'll get a bit more hiss with some of the more efficient models, sometimes it's the music and sometimes it's the source or headphone stage - nothing to worry about really

T70 soundstage is way improved over the DT250.
