Looks like some sort of Sirocco R. If it weren't for practicality concerns I'd have considered getting a Sirocco.

A Golf R would be more practical and just as good in most ways (looks aside, but not everyone likes the back end of the Sirocco - looks a little awkward IMO). AWD is heavier and dulls the experience but not a fan of axel tramp and front wheel wheelspin.

From what I can tell, the 3 door R is going to be "replaced" by the Scirocco, the 5 door R will stick around.
The Scirocco is ~140kg lighter and FWD, which would make a pretty big difference. I'm used to the GTI so I'd need to take both the Scirocco and R for a spin.

Yeah people have been speculating about that for years, 3Dr Golf R's probably will get phased out at some point.

I've had both a Golf R32 and GTI MK6 (APR tuned) and the GTI was more fun albeit not as good road presence. The lighter weight is noticable and pulls hard for a FWD, just don't like the wheelspin and axel tramp if you have a heavy foot. Aftermarket (lowered) suspension is suppose to help. The AWD traction is great just adds a bit too much weight and loses power through the drivetrain.

Dad's contract was up, so renewing his contract, I got to keep the phone :)

When mine reaches it's expiry date, he'll get my contract's new phone.

Can't wait to root this and install a custom ROM!

I preferred the GTI to the R32, but I haven't taken an R for a spin yet...

From a previous post, Benno's just picked up a NEX-5.
I'm tossing up between getting an entry level DSLR (possibly the soon to be released Canon 650D) or an ILC (I have a friend who works for Sony who should be able to get me a hefty discount). Having done some reading over the last few days, I'm starting to lean towards a NEX-5 or 7 depending on final price I can get it for. Any comments/advice?
