Seriously now, for the price these are a must have. I think the crown for "best sounding headphones under $100" goes to these, they'd even compare with models like the Shure E2, UE SuperFi3 and even higher end models like the ER-6i and E3c.

Only yesterday I was wishing I had a cheap closed headphone to take with when I take my son to the playground & here it is.

You'd be surprised actually :)
At home I use my Beyer DT531 as a primary headphone still. I have a pair of Koss KSC35 that I use for portable when I don't need isolation and a pair of ER-4P that I don't use (because I never need that much isolation).

I had all sorts of questions about this, not least of which being, how can you like it so much after having only used it a few days (hours?).

But, you know what? Bugger that. I looked at my old Sony in-ears. Then I placed the order :)

I listen to headphones all the time and often get samples in from various places. When I listen to them I don't have a price list in front of me, so I normally form a rough ballpark in my head regarding cost from the OVERALL quality of sound (but not specifics).

The reaction I've had from people who I've given a demo of these to in store has been exactly the same:

them: "wow, these sound good!"
me: "how much do you think they cost, ballpark"
them: "I don't know, $200-$300?"
me: "try less than $100"
them:
me: "I know!" :unibrow:
them: "I'll take a pair!"
me: "they aren't in stock yet" :(
them:  :crybaby:

Now they're in stock, so you don't have to  and :crybaby: at me, you can just :unibrow: or  instead :D

The SuperFi3 still has some advantages - the main ones being durability/replacement cable, and they still sound great :)

Sound Signature

Postby PlumpDJ » Fri Apr 20, 2007 10:12 am

How would you describe the sound signature? I read some reviews on Head-Fi where people described them as having nice mids but next to no bass and poor treble.

Just like any canalphone, if you don't insert them properly they have poor bass. Insert them properly and they have lots of bass. Treble detail is also excellent, not quite as good as something like the ER-6i but still very good :)

Hmmm.. sounds very tempting then. It should be a good introduction to canal phones. I'm always worried I won't be able to get comfortable so this is a good way to try them out without breaking the bank!

Just curious.

What sort of isolation do these offer ?

I'm so paranoid of listening too loud on the train that with the ksc-75s I just listen at moderate volume, of course then I can hear everything around me. Train noises, people talking, other people blaring music.

I'm interested but I think I have either glue ear or impacted ear wax at the moment as my ears don't like me sticking in ear plugs. Need to go to the doctors eventually. So yeah, if my ears are sorted I'd probably want some.
